Gevalia 12 Cup Coffeemaker
Gevalia 12 Cup Coffee Maker Review
The Gevalia 12 Cup Coffee Maker is designed for people who drink quite a bit of coffee on a regular basis, but don't need a lot of bells and whistles. While this solid little coffee maker seems to be able to handle quite a bit of wear and tear and we like it fairly well, there are a few improvements that could make the design a bit more user friendly.
The reservoir basin is quite large and holds plenty of water when it is filled. However, it can be frustrating to actually fill the reservoir, since the opening is fairly small. Our last coffee maker had a much wider opening. The handy of gauge on the side of the unit makes it easy for you to see how many cups of water are in the reservoir once it is filled.
Operating this coffee maker is fairly simple; just program the unit and select auto on if you would like to have it perking away when you wake up or hit the on/off button if you'd like to make coffee right away. While 12 cups is usually plenty of coffee, someone who has decided to make a smaller pot and realizes he or she needs to add just a bit more water may be frustrated by the fact that he or she will have to turn off the unit before adding more water. If you forget to hit the button, you may have to unplug the unit and wait awhile before it works properly again.
Despite these small design flaws, the coffee maker works well and shows no sign of wearing out after three years of daily use.
